The West Orange Arts Council is pleased  to announce the launch of the Artist Registry. Gallery Jury Process
Proposals should be presented on standard size paper (8-1/2" x 11") and sheets should not be stapled or bound together. Please do not include folders, binders, or other elaborate paper holders.
Please provide the following:

  • Name, address, phone number, and e-mail address.
  • CD of work. Digital images of work must be saved to a CD in JPG format. Please format the pictures so they are large enough for us to view, but not too large to open (approx. 700-500pixels, 72ppi).
  • Please include a list that describes each submission with its title, composition and price.*
  • A resume listing art education and prior shows or exhibits. (No formal art training or past exhibitions are required to exhibit.)
  • Copies of news articles highlighting you or your work (optional).
  • Artist Statement.

Include a self addressed stamped envelope with sufficient postage for return of your submission. Submissions dropped off at the Center will be called for pick up. Click here to learn more...

Exhibit Guidelines

  • Gallery standards suggest that fine art works have simple frames with neutral (not colored) mats.
  • If applicable, 2-D work must be protected by Plexiglas, not glass.
  • All 2-D work must be hung with wire, NO SAW TOOTH HANGERS ALLOWED.
  • Art work must be original and created within the last 2 years.
  • The WOAC reserves the right not to display any work which fails to meet jury committee review expectations.
  • All artists wishing to display their work in the WOAC gallery must complete the jury process.
  • The Jury Committee meets quarterly. You will receive written notification of the jury’s decision within one to two months of the meeting. The notification process is directly related to the number of artists who have submitted work.
  • Thank you for considering a display of your work at the WOAC. We have developed a strong reputation for showing new talent and inspirational artists and we hope that we will be able to assist you in the advancement of your artistic career.

Gift Shop Jury Process

Fill out the Gift Shop submission form and bring it and a selection of your work into the WOAC. Work can be dropped off at anytime during gift shop hours. The Gift Shop Committee meets every other month or once we have a significant number of artists to review. The WOAC Gift Shop Director will contact each artist and notify him/her of the jury’s decision. If declined, artists are welcome to resubmit at any time. However, art that has not been accepted must be retrieved immediately from the Gift Shop.   Click here to learn more...

Pieces may be declined if:

  •  WOAC currently stocks enough similar pieces
  •  The piece is not ready for immediate sale
  • The price is too high for WOAC market
  • The piece is too fragile
  • The piece does not fit WOAC market
  • Workmanship is not up to WOAC standards

Please note that pieces that have been declined must be retrieved immediately. Artists who have failed to claim their pieces will be billed shipping costs accordingly.

The West Orange Arts Center receives a 25% commission from all sales. Please include this in your retail price. However, the WOAC is a non-profit organization. Therefore, the commission may be claimed as a tax-deductible contribution.
