art education
Our History
The West Orange Arts Council was established in 1998 as an organization supported by the Town of West Orange, New Jersey, by Assemblyman John F. McKeon (West Orange Mayor at the time) and Susan Borg. They recognized the need for community art beyond what was available through the school system.
Area artists and community leaders remain the core of WOAC today. We are supported by West Orange Mayor Robert D. Parisi and our Town Council, including West Orange Arts Council Town Council Liaison Susan McCartney.
Our Mission remains:
To cultivate, inspire and support the study and presentation of the performing, visual and literary arts within our community, and to foster public interest in and support of the arts in West Orange.
To strive, through education, community outreach, arts programming and facility enhancement, to enrich and enliven the quality of life of the residents of the Township of West Orange.
To support the arts and to bring programs to various audiences gained through our membership, fundraisers and art collector purchases of local artist’s work.
